The Laundry Room

I LOVE the color, Red!

Every room in my home in Houston has a little bit of red in it.  And, every room at The Great Escape has a shade of blue in it.  Color just makes me happy!  You will notice even in my gardens, I will have colorful flowers.  The current lawn furniture is cobalt blue and lime green, so that I can have all sorts of red flowers in the flower beds.  So, why would my laundry room be any different?  If you can make your laundry room even a little bit fun, then doing laundry isn’t such a chore.  I don’t find laundry to be particularly fun, but I do love the smell of fresh towels straight out of the dryer.

My washer & dryer are, of course, red.  These LG machines are now 10 years old.  Here’s hoping to getting another 10 out of them.

When we moved into our new Houston home last year, I wanted to bring in some new design elements.  I have a whole Pinterest board full of nothing but Laundry Room ideas.  Here’s some that I incorporated into my messy, little, red laundry room:

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Lazy Susan – 19.7″ diameter, tempered glass

Two Beverage Dispensers – One for the liquid laundry detergent and the other one for liquid fabric softener.  Just remember to place them on opposite sides so that it balances out the Lazy Susan. I believe I found one at TJ Maxx and the other at the “at home” store.  You really don’t want more than a 1 gallon container as it starts to get heavy with the liquid and then the glass container.  Similar dispensers here

Spray Bottle (Rustproof Aluminum-12 oz.) for stain remover spray

Woolite in the Oil Bottle – Since not very much of it is necessary for a small load, I chose a smaller, glass container for the Woolite.  Similar here

Glass Candy Jar for the Tide Pods.  I lettered “Not Candy” on the lid as it makes me smile and right before this writing, the young kids thought it would be nifty to eat Tide Pods.  The lettering was done on my Cricut Explore Air.  Thanks to DH for assisting as I am still learning.  I have so many projects and so little time.  Similar candy jar here

The little red mason jar was a gift from my next door neighbor.  She had placed flowers in it.  I re-purposed the jar to put change and other odds & ends that are left in my kid’s pockets.

Red Kleenex Box for the dryer sheets.  I chose red, but you can choose black or brown depending on your decor scheme. I place as many of the fabric softener sheets that will fit in the Kleenex box and the rest of the boring, cardboard box goes under the cabinet for safekeeping.

Little Girl in red Hanging out Laundry – How adorable is this?  My Houston home is contemporary, so to add a bit of vintage is just too fun not to incorporate.

I love this bible verse.  And, it fits so well in the laundry room.  Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.  Colossians 3:12

I’m not quite finished with the display of this verse.  I still need to print it out on better quality paper and add the black frame around it.  I’m only adding the frame and not the glass.

I had a local cabinet maker install three cabinets to hide the dirty laundry.  My intention was to have them sorted by whites, colors, and towels, but most of the time our clothes still end up on the floor.  Inside of each door is a black, plastic, upright laundry basket.

Until next time, my friends . . . may your day be blessed and your laundry minimal!
