Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day!

What do you have cooked up for your lover this Valentine’s Day? I’m thinking rose petals strewn about. I like these faux rose petals as the real ones can potentially stain. Plus, these can be a one-time purchase!

DH is sooo great at making me feel special on this holiday. I suppose that is why we will be celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary this year! Woohoo!

Dinner & a Game

I’m thinking of a nice dinner and a game of Monogamy. This is a terrific game to spice things up! Hint Hint: be thinking of a food item to bring to the bedroom.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

I am going to say this every year until these holidays get more spread out. For the month of February in the United States, we have President’s Day, Chinese New Year, Mardi Gras (date varies), and Valentine’s Day.  All just days apart.  I mean c’mon! I want to celebrate them all, but I always have to choose. Why? Why not move Valentine’s Day to August?

We have no holidays during the month of August. It’s hot! Valentine’s is shared with your hot lover! Why not? Flowers can always be found. Give me a better reason.

Valentine’s Day Origins

I am fully aware that Valentine’s Day has origins regarding spring time. But, what harm would there be in moving the holiday to August? Valentine’s Day, also called St. Valentine’s Day, when lovers express their affection with greetings and gifts. The holiday has origins in the Roman festival of Lupercalia, held in mid-February. The festival, which celebrated the coming of spring, included fertility rites and the pairing off of women with men by lottery. At the end of the 5th century, Pope Gelasius I replaced Lupercalia with St. Valentine’s Day. It came to be celebrated as a day of romance from about the 14th century. (Source)

Listen if we spread out the holidays, more money per capita will be spent on each of them, just saying! I am surprised that someone else hasn’t thought about this. These, “How Do I Love Thee” heart cards are SOLD OUT already.  Keep checking back and order them for the following year.

Wreaths by Simi

As it stands now, I will have my Valentine’s tablescape at my Breakfast Table and my Mardi Gras tablescape at my Dining Room Table. I need to ask Simi over at Wreaths by Simi to make a wreath that is half Valentine’s and half Mardi Gras like she does for rivalry football teams.
