Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving Y’all!

Let me start by defining tablescape:  “Tablescaping is the act of creatively and intentionally arranging a tabletop so that it conveys a specific theme, mood, or experience.” (Defined by Steph at Fearless Fresh)

I love pretty tablescapes!  I love utilizing unusual elements! My Thanksgiving tablescape’s colors this year are green and white.  I have done more traditional ones in the past, but this year I’m going for simple yet elegant.

Beaded Table Runner from my shop.

The yellow cloth napkins were sourced several years back from Crate & Barrel.

Gold Flatware – similar here

Mirrored Place Mats –  similar here

The green square chargers were purchased from Party City years ago.

Mikasa High Spirits Plates – This set of dishes was given to me around 1999 by my dear friend, Ann, as a “Thank You” for helping her move out of her apartment in Houston, Texas.  These plates represent the beginning of my contemporary style.  We use them on a daily basis.

Eucalyptus leaves and green tapered candles were sourced from Hobby Lobby

Silver Candle Sticks – were from my late MIL

Shot Glasses – Pottery Barn – We use these shot glasses to get a shot of Squash Bisque Soup that DH makes (I try very hard not to cook).  My DH (dear husband) does most of the cooking at our house.  I make reservations very, very well.  Similar shot glasses were found here.

Riedel Wine Glasses – Lovely wine glasses.  They feel fragile, but are actually quite sturdy.  We have used these many times in the last year.

Antique Wine Glasses – These have been handed down by at least three generations.  These glasses are well over 100 years old.  DH gets nervous every time I use them, but I love to show them off.  They are far too special to be hidden in a cabinet far, far away.

The turkey pine-cone name card holders were found at Pottery Barn.

Front Porch

The wrought iron table and chairs were purchased years ago from “at home”.  The pillows were found on Amazon.

This Thanksgiving wreath was purchased last year. Isn’t he fun?  I found him on Etsy and had to have him.  The cornstalk was purchased from the Enchanted Gardens.

Back Porch

This area is still a work in progress.

UPDATE:  See what’s happening here! Have you ever gardened with an elephant?

I love this plant!  It’s absolutely gorgeous!  I purchase a new Croton every year as I end up killing one or two every year.

We DID NOT host Thanksgiving this year.  This year, my lovely sister-in-law, Michelle, and her family hosted.  We had a group of 14.  There were tons of wonderful food to gorge on.  Unfortunately, we only stayed a few hours as our next stop was The Great Escape.  The cousins all played beautifully together and were able to reconnect as they hadn’t visited with each for a few years.

I have so many things to be Thankful for:  My dear husband (DH), Trey; two healthy sons, Joseph and Adam; a great extended family and lovely friends.  I get to see the sunshine, the flowers, and the birds one more day.  God is good!

God Bless you and your families!
